Abstract

In this presentation I recount the personal histories of people and social movements, whose commitment to the struggle for social justice became the very embodiment of critical hope. From picket lines and civil rights marches, to pro-democracy movements across the globe the refrain “We shall overcome" continues to be an international anthem for human rights owing to thosewho sing with every part of their lives.
