About the Collections

The Armstrong State University Pirates began with just a handful of varsity sports when the Southside campus opened and the school became a four-year institution. Armstrong State first competed in NAIA, then moved to NCAA Division II in the 1970s. The Pirates were a charter member of the Big South Conference and played in NCAA Division I for three seasons before moving back to Division II in the late 1980s and eventually finding a home as a charter member of the Peach Belt Conference in 1990. Armstrong State was a proud member of DII and the PBC for the last 26 years its 50 year history.
