First Presenter's Brief Biography
I am a 29-year veteran educator from Birmingham, AL. My experiences include being an innovative leader of both the Academic and Operational sides of a school district. I have had the distinct honor of serving at every level (Elementary, Middle, High, as well as Central Office). More specifically, I have served as Middle and High School Language Arts teacher, as well as Elementary and Middle School principal. Currently, I serve as a Central Office Administrator.

Student Success
All children are prepared for productive citizenship, college, career, and life. Graduation rates increase as students meet or exceed proficiency in grade level reading, math, and other subjects required for graduation.

Brief Program Description
"Success Is the Only Option". Reflective, Engaging, Imperative. Often times teachers place grades on report cards without analyzing or reflecting. Interesting conversations take place when teachers are presented with a chart displaying the number of As and Bs compared to the number Ds and Fs. What does a snapshot of your classroom, school, or district reveal about both student and teacher academic success? This presentation allows participants to identify resolutions to barriers, as well as receive tools that enhance student/teacher engagement - as Academic Success Is the Only Option.

Summary:
Classroom teachers and school level administrators will identify barriers to teaching/learning success. Participants will be able to identify and implement a plethora of solutions, strategies, and tools that remove barriers and increase teaching/learning success.

- Successfully Incorporate Tools for Fostering Great Relationships (Learning Style Inventories, Interest Inventories, Personality Trait Inventory)
Create Engaging Lessons and Activities that Reduce Failures and Increase Success
- Calculate and Analyze the number of As, Bs, Cs, Ds, and Fs
- Write in Reflection Journal “What Type of Teacher Am I?”
- Use the “Plan Do Check Act” model to Progress Monitor and increase the number on As, Bs, and Cs
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN:
Teachers will use student data to complete, analyze, and develop implementation steps for the following:
- (Summer-Start of School) Subject Area Teachers Complete Two Year Data Analysis Sheet for each student by subject (State Assessment Data)
- (Each Nine Weeks) Teachers Complete Nine Week Grade Analysis Sheet
- (Each Nine Weeks) Teachers Complete Student Academic Improvement Plan for each student receiving D or F on Report Card
- (Each Nine Weeks) Administrators Complete and Instructional Improvement Plan for each teacher with 20% or more students receiving F on Report Card
- Administrators and Leadership Team will implement the Plan, Do, Check, Act model for Continuous Improvement
- (Bi Weekly) Administrators will conduct Instructional Walk-Throughs
- (Monthly) Teachers will create small learning communities based on ‘live’ data for the following (based on skills objectives mastered)
- Weekly Enrichment/Remediation
- Tutoring Sessions
- Academic Blitzes
Monitoring and Evaluation:
Administrators, Leadership Team, and Teachers will implement the Plan, Do, Check, Act Model for monitoring and evaluation.
Plan Collect Data (State Assessment, Report Card Grades, Student/Teacher Attendance)
Disaggregate Data (Grade, Subject, Gender, Ethnicity, Socioeconomic, etc.)
Create Common Assessments based on Data
Create Curriculum Guides

PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The percentages of failures (Grade F) in academic subjects far exceeds the number of successes (Grades A, and B). There is evidence of laissez-fair attitude demonstrated by both teachers and students.
