Abstract
“I am Laura Harris, I am a journalist and #IAmGeorgiaSouthern.” Alumna Laura Harris is an award-winning journalist in the fifth-largest television market in the country. She co-anchors the morning and midday newscasts at NBC5 in Dallas/Fort Worth. During her time at Georgia Southern, she was a student-athlete where she learned to work as part of a team toward a common goal. Her time as a student helped Laura realize who she was and who she wanted to be, not just what she wanted to be. She believes it’s important for young people to understand going to college is about figuring out who they want to be in the world. “All the things I learned about myself at Georgia Southern I’ve had to carry with me throughout this career because it’s definitely not an easy one, but it’s very rewarding.”
