Title: Oral Health Epidemiology and Dental Public Health
Practice: Teeth Matter in Public Health Date: Friday, September 10, 2021
Abstract: Often when people think of public health, oral health is not an area or part of the body that comes to mind as being important to population-level health. Surgeon General David Satcher in the first Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health said it best: "oral health is key to overall health". The purpose of this presentation is to introduce webinar participants to oral health epidemiology, highlighting prevalence trends in key oral health outcomes, describing methodological approaches to better engage both oral health epidemiology and other disciplines in interdisciplinary research, and identifying best evidence practices for improving population-level oral health.
