Description of Lecture
Join me as I share some of my favorite mathematical photos as well as photos of the mathematics you may encounter throughout the state Georgia --- From Atlanta to Historic Savannah ... from the Marshes of Glynn the the fields, lakes, rolling hills, and mountains. We each encounter mathematics in our daily lives --- no matter where we live. Photos of such encounters can become the basis of interesting and engaged mathematical conversations and questions.
Teacher can make their classes come alive by assisting students as they look for, see, and celebrate mathematics in the world around them. Using photographs of shapes, designs, patterns, numbers, plants/flowers, animals, quilts, tatted or crocheted pieces, road signs, architecture, or light fixitures can enrich classroom experiences and motivate students to appreciated and understand mathematics more fully.
