Notes: Joseph David Purvis was born in Willacoochee, Atkinson County, Georgia, in 1916. Graduate of South Georgia Teachers College, 1936. Thirty-two-year career with the FBI (1941-1973). His books are: Savannah Bits and Pieces (1976), The Era of J. Edgar (1998), and Growing Up in Willacoochee (2002).
