(I stopped transcribing this interview when, 16 pages into it, I realized that the original transcription that had been made years ago was wrong. A large amount of what was said between the interviewers (who I now know were Esther Mallard and Jay Fraser) and Mr. Lewis was paraphrased and “tidied-up” therefore rendering it inaccurate and unreliable. The previous transcription (labeled as being recorded in 1988) was done by me, and I can at least attest to the accuracy of it, but NOT the following. ~Maggie Horne Thomas, June 8, 2010)
