Teaching Practices (Poster Only) – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion
Abstract
Specifications grading is an assessment strategy based on mastery learning, clear learning objectives, and frequent evaluation/feedback. This innovative teaching practice was applied to an allied health human anatomy & physiology course. Given that this class is used for allied health professions, mastery of the material is critical to further success in these professions. The poster presentation will focus on presenting 1) how the outcome goals were developed into assessments, 2) how teaching practices during class were modified to allow for greater assessment time, 3) quantitative data on student performance, and 4) qualitative data on students’ perception of specifications grading.
