Teaching Practices (Poster Only) – Analysis, synthesis, reflection, and discussion
Abstract
In my Communication classroom, I use the act of building to teach foundations of writing instructions, basic elements of design, scale modeling, and introduction to presentations. With small sets of Legos and small sets of Connectagons, the class is divided into groups to build and design their own item. If it is for Scientific and Technical Communication, instructions must be developed. If it is for Professional Communication, the elements of design are reviewed as well as story building are developed as a part of teamwork. The poster allows for the lesson plans to be viewed and discussed with student samples provided.
