Abstract
In recent years, the higher education has recognized the potential value of service learning and has seen an increasing adoption of service learning. We briefly introduce our incorporation of service learning projects in our classes. We review the project directions and assignments that require students to bring their project experience back to class, and tie with concepts and theories learned in course. Then we use feedbacks from students to assess whether and how the service learning project enhances student learning. Positive results are reported. The presentation concludes with lessons learned and suggestions for effective adoption of service learning projects.
