Promoting Research to the Masses by Collaborating Across Disciplines
Abstract
We will describe our collaborative interdisciplinary teaching project, in which a Promotions Management business class was paired with a Child Development psychology class to develop research-based brochures and posters on child development issues aimed towards parents. Posters were displayed for the campus community, and we used pre/post-test assessment to determine whether people became more knowledgeable about child development issues after the Poster Walk. We also assessed pre/post student reactions to the project. We will explain our assessment strategies and results, guide participants through the process of developing innovative teaching ideas, and hopefully inspire participants to develop creative projects.
