A Kinesthetic Approach to Second Language Acquisition
Subject Area
Second Language Acquisition
Abstract
Kinesthetic activities, such as scavenger hunts, are perfect for second language learners. They help build problem solving skills and encourage teamwork. These activities encourage hands on learning and exercise both the body and mind. Scavenger hunts can be used in all language courses from the first-year to advanced content and from a traditional classroom to the online classroom. These activities also enable instructors to fit different student needs. This presentation will discuss the benefits of kinesthetic activities such as scavenger hunts and give sample lessons and ideas that can be used in any foreign language classroom.
