Full Session Description

This session will journey through the set up and daily life of a child-led infant classroom. Participants will be introduced to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and Piaget's sensorimotor stage of cognitive development to better understand the needs of infants and how their learning environment can be created to meet those needs and intentionally enhance the infants' construction of knowledge. Understanding of these theories can be used as the framework for developmentally appropriate planning to cultivate an ideal infant environment and learning experiences. This session will enable the participant to plan for and offer materials, experiences, activities, and small groupings, which will support infants getting the most from their learning environment.
