Make a Difference with Effective Actions for Healthy Children – The New Georgia Nutrition and Physical Activity Assessment Tool!

Georgia-based HealthMPowers collaborated with other early care and education partners to create a comprehensive approach to help ECE providers become leaders in the health and development of Georgia’s children. The new Georgia Nutrition and Physical Activity Assessment online platform serves as the basis for this work and was developed in partnership with Georgia Departments of Public Health (DPH) and Early Care and Learning (DECAL), Georgia Organics, UGA, Quality Care for Children, Voices for Georgia’s Children, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Georgia Health Policy Center. Using this online platform, providers assess their program, identify priority actions, develop objectives and action plans for implementation. Tied to the assessment are specific resources designed to help centers achieve best practices. During the session, participants will get a tour of the Georgia Nutrition and Physical Activity Assessment and learn about trainings to support the implementation of best practices in nutrition and physical activity. This session will help inform the piloting of this Assessment and define trainings (both face to face and virtual) that are being developed. This session will lead participants through the assessment, prioritization and action planning process and will help gather participant ideas on how best to implement this system statewide.
