My name is Shucrea Victor- Cameron. I am a first grade teacher at Westwood Heights Elementary School in Broward County,FL. In May 2012, I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Rosemont College. I obtained my master’s degree in Special Education from Drexel University in June 2014. In 2019, I served as a guest speaker at the Monroe Early Childhood Conference. I am currently enrolled in a Doctoral Program, studying Organizational Leadership. My role as an educator is to ensure the developmental and educational needs of children are being met by building on the national best practices and evidence based exemplary practices focused on the child, the family, the teacher, and learning environments.

Full Session Description
Oral language is the foundation for learning. Strong oral language skills help children comprehend and express their ideas, feelings, and opinions. It is very important for teachers to understand that children come to school with a wide range of exposure and language experiences. Researchers argued that children typically develop language skills around the same age; however, their vocabulary growth is strongly influenced by language nutrition. Language nutrition refers to language-rich interactions that facilitate language development. Participants will learn how utilize language facilitation strategies to support individualized growth and development.
