Abstract
About the Presenter:
Captain Mahyar Mofidi was appointed Director of HRSA, HIV/AIDS Bureau’s Division of Community HIV/AIDS Programs in November 2015. He leads and directs a 60 person staff in the administration of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Part C, D, and F dental programs managing a $300 million budget that supports over 600 community based grant recipients to provide comprehensive health care and support services to low income people with HIV. Captain Mofidi joined HRSA and the HIV/AIDS Bureau in 2006 as a Public Health Analyst then as a Branch Chief while also serving as the Bureau’s Chief Dental Officer. Before joining HRSA, Captain Mofidi was a faculty member of the University of North Carolina’s School of Dentistry and a research associate with the Cecil Shep’s Center for Health Services Research at UNC. He has a deep passion for serving the underserved populations and towards this life-long commitment he also volunteers as a dentist in rural, Kentucky providing oral health services for people with HIV. Captain Mofidi received his dental degree from the University of Louisville Kentucky and his doctorate in health behavior from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
