Purpose
This document establishes a comprehensive policy for accepting academic credit for prior learning not originating from Georgia Southern University (University). Such methods of receiving, evaluating, and transcribing credit includes but is not limited to the use of: transfer credit from a institutionally accredited institution of higher learning; Advanced Placement® (AP) exams; College-Level Examination Program tests® (CLEP); International Baccalaureate® program exams (IB); DANTES Subject Standardized Test Program (DSST); other nationally recognized examinations; military education and experience; professional education certifications or credentials from an institutionally accredited college or university; a nationally accepted credentialing or licensing organization; a nationally accepted industry certification; departmental proficiency (challenge) exams; a reviewed third party vendor course; a high school to college pathway recognized as such by the Georgia Department of Education; or a portfolio demonstration of learning outcomes for credit not originating from an institutionally accredited institution of higher learning.
