Abstract

Georgia Southern University faculty member Karen M. McCurdy authored “Coal Disasters: Geology and Politics in Uneasy Collaboration” in the publication Coal and Peat Fires: A Global Perspective, Volume 2: Photographs and Multimedia.

Book Summary: The second of a planned four volume reference resource for the international coal and peat fire research community that includes geoscientists and engineers. The presentation establishes the policy setting for coal fires, explaining why some governments will take action to ameliorate naturally occurring and man-made fires while others will not.
