Abstract
The on-demand warehousing model is emerging as a logistic solution based on resource sharing for businesses needing storage space. This model provides a business-to-business marketplace where companies can provide (or request) storage and other logistic services with a high level of flexibility. However, literature is still scarce on the topic, and while the potential advantages of such model are quite clear, its main criticalities need to be explored. Based on a market analysis of platforms currently providing on-demand warehousing opportunities, this work present a first discussion on the advantages and limitations of the model for customers and lenders.
