Background

The purpose of this project is to research, design, build, and implement a fast and reasonably affordable 3D-printer. When prototyping a functional part, it is important to test the physical models for flaws or mistakes in the designing process. This task becomes more difficult when it takes 5-6 hours to print a small to medium-sized model. Our project aims to design a printer that uses a newer kinematics model known as “core-xy.” The benefits to using it are that it allows for significantly higher print speeds and it uses almost all of the same parts as the standard cartesian style 3d-printers.
