Summary
In society, so many unmotivated students are labeled as at-risk students because most see them as lazy. Positive relationships between students and stakeholders can assist these students in reaching their dreams and facilitate positive academic outcomes. This presentation will illustrate the successful components of a high school "Fast Track" credit recovery program for at-risk students. The various support will include discussions on goal setting, academic achievement, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning that at-risk students may not always receive. An environment that fosters positive collaborations between students and staff will nurture these at-risk students in ways that will improve academic, behavioral and achievement outcomes. These interventions work to hold students accountable to high levels of learning and encourage a growth mindset while providing support solely based on the students' needs.
