This session provides resources and strategies to address the development of the whole child, which improves academic achievement and promotes social and emotional skills. Providing students with a growth mindset and an environment to succeed is critical in our schools. Tools for motivating students and providing them with life-long skills to be college and career ready are essential to our school.
Brief Program Description
Come learn strategies to enhance student achievement by focusing on the development of the whole child. Resources will be provided to implement in the classroom to promote a growth mind set for both teachers and students. Skills for college and career readiness will be covered. This workshop is appropriate for teachers, school counselors and administrators.
Summary
Using the model of a growth mindset and dispositional thinking, this workshop will provide resources and strategies to address the development of the whole child. Strategies will be covered to include classroom management, instructional methodology and guidance lessons to ensure motivated students who take responsibility for their learning. This practical approach to improving student achievement focuses on student accountability and skill development to be successful, not only in school, but beyond.
Evidence
Effective instructional practices, a focus a skill development, and a growth mindset has been proven to increase student achievement. All staff members need to be equipped with the requisite skills to serve as leader in their classrooms and the school environment. When these skills are implemented, student achievement increases.
Biographical Sketch
Linda Kopec - Linda Kopec has been a school administrator for 15 years and was a school counselor for ten years. She has presented at local, state and national conferences on a variety of topics to include Suicide Prevention, Crisis Management, Developing Student Assistance Teams, and Small Group and Guidance presentations. She serves on several state advisory committees and associations.
Heather Findeisen - Heather Findeisen has been a school administrator for 2 years. Prior to that, she was a classroom teacher.
Ann Stutler - Ann Stutler is a School Media Specialist. She serves as a leader on the School Leadership Team. Prior to becoming a media specialist, Ms. Stutler was a classroom teacher.
