Empowering LGBTQ Youth in Human Services Agencies
Brief Program Description
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and questioning (LGBTQ) youth are an at-risk population that often experiences negative outcomes. This workshop will expose attendees to efforts being made in a Southern state to empower LGBTQ youth living in child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
(1) Through dialogue and interactive activities, participants will evaluate and consider ways to empathize with the challenges faced by LGBTQ youth in human services agencies.
(2) Participants will be able to identify and discuss the importance of listening to the youth voice to inform research, policy, and practice.
(3) Participants will conceptualize ways in which their organization can identify the needs and empower LGBTQ youth in human services agencies
