Abstract or Description
In this poster, we present our analysis of middle-school students' problem solving and troubleshooting approaches while solving game-based puzzles (Lightbot). Our results indicate that children tend to use ineffective (i.e., slower) approaches to solve and troubleshoot puzzles. We present our findings, instructional approaches to alleviate the problems, and issues with the game-based assessment in constraining students' performance.
