Abstract
This thesis is the first draft of a realistic fiction novel that explores the relationship between the Christian Church and queer identity, as well as expressions of LGBTQ+ love and community in the Southern United States. The story follows the main character Faye Connelly and the members of her collegiate Christian choir as they travel the South on their annual summer tour. Through a series of mishaps, adventures, and the introduction of a new sound technician, Faye discovers that she is a lesbian. Faye must find an understanding of her sexuality and determine what it means to be both a lesbian and a member of the Christian Church, where LGBTQ+ identities are polarizing and frequently the subject of theological debate, all while preparing for what comes next once her final senior tour comes to an end.
