Abstract
#SayHisName: Terrence Brooks aims to address the relevant yet pressing issue of the unjust killings of young Black/African American men and women by White biased police officers within The United States of America. In #SayHisName: Terrence Brooks, a 24-year-old Black male named Terrence Brooks is killed in his car by a biased, 35-year-old White police officer named Brian Rolfe after stopping by the local convenience store for a snack. However, Terrence Brooks isn’t in the car by himself. He is accompanied by his 23-year-old African American girlfriend named Korryn Jefferson. Even though Terrence’s death is important to both my script and the content within my script, my goal is to highlight the affect that police brutality incidents have on those that are left behind to deal with the loss of their friend, brother, significant other, nephew, son, etc. My other goal is to also humanize Terrence Brooks and show the moments leading up to his death, since victims of police brutality tend to fall victim of being dehumanized by the media.
