Abstract

This study addresses the female protagonists in four contemporary dystopian novels. Each protagonist rebels against some social reality, but the results of these rebellions vary. Some women are instrumental in overthrowing the current social and governmental structures while others see their efforts thwarted, and they remain oppressed.
