Abstract
In the United States, 3.38 million people report not speaking English well. These 3.38 million people continuously struggle to find employment, face underemployment, struggle to do everyday tasks, and feel considerable discomfort when in a doctor’s office due to a significant lack of adequate translation services. The purpose of this paper is to provide statistics based upon research and provide information based upon personal experience to raise awareness to the growing issue of miscommunication and improper translation measures taken to provide quality healthcare to Spanish speakers in the United States.
