Abstract
Over the course of four semesters, one student discovered if using the sequence method would allow them to answer the question “what is the process and essential components of the craft of feature film writing,” and lead to the creation of a refined feature length screenplay. The student utilized multiple tools in the pre-writing phase to understand the fundamentals of a good and engaging story. The student explored multiple texts about screenplay writing, the reasoning behind methods like the sequence method, and received feedback from their mentor on the crucial aspects of story development. In the second phase of this thesis, the writing phase, the student refined skills learned in previous classes, in a screenwriting class, and during three research credit hours. This will allow the student to create five drafts of a 90 - 120 page screenplay that could have possible future applications in the student’s career.
