Abstract
This paper explores a literature review of how women are expanding more into the workforce requiring them to balance the demands of both family and work. Attention was given to the importance of breastfeeding, and the current research involving lactation support for working lactating nurses. The goal of this paper was to assess a Southeast Georgia hospital for the barriers and perceived support for working lactating nurses. Based on the available literature investigating this topic, it was hypothesized that nurses would report a lack of resources and support for working lactating mothers. To investigate this, an anonymous survey was conducted using Qualtrics at this Southeast Georgia hospital. The survey included currently lactating nurses as well as women who have lactated while working at the hospital being surveyed within the last five years, to increase the possible sample size.
