Abstract
Now with the pandemic continue to ravage our nation for the third consecutive year, schools across our nation continue to feel the pressure to teach to the test! Unfortunately, the great damage occurs to children of color and those whose families are trapped at the poverty level. This presentation will examine the neoliberal agenda that corporate America has infused our schools/districts into adopting. Additionally, the dilemma of a shortage of minority teachers in preservice programs will also be discussed. Together, these two phenomena collectively form a problematic dilemma that is sure to wreak havoc in our schools for years to come. Suggestions for change and alternatives are unpacked drawing from critical pedagogical thinkers such as Giroux, Apple, and Noddings.
