Abstract
Self-regulated strategy development (SRSD) is a flexible, widely studied instructional approach for a variety of settings, ages, and disabilities, including those with and at-risk for emotional and behavioral disorders served in alternative education settings. Researchers have established SRSD writing strategies to be an evidence-based practices while additional inquiry into reading comprehension has been widely recommended. This presentation will summarize the recent research regarding the SRSD instructional approach to address reading comprehension within alternative education settings, present future directions, and discuss implications for practitioners.
