Abstract
The researchers have constructed a conceptual framework based upon contemporary activism as chronicled through the specific initiation of protests by NBA & WNBA players. The researchers problematized this preliminary research study around the framework that has been developed from the dissertation and research interest that proceeded the current reawakening of student activism and professional athlete activism in 2020. Hopkins, Capel, & Moffett (2019) identified through historical literature the significance of historical timeline of selected activism through the lens of luminaries such as Jackie Robinson, Althea Gibson, Muhammad Ali, Jim Brown, Bill Russell, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, to name a few. However, the contemporary proposal of this virtual paper presentation seeks to explore the potential for longitudinal research that will be branded by the authors of this paper.
