Presentation Abstract

  • This workshop will provide participants with a plan of action and an effective, easy way to implement strategies to help encourage teacher buy-in. Participants will first learn three ways to implement Teacher PBIS: point system, raffles, or shout outs. Each system will be thoroughly explained and each participant will be given an opportunity to create their own systems; as well as, receive a copy of an implementation plan for each. Next participants will be given a variety of ideas for inexpensive, community based gifts and prizes. Participants will then have the opportunity collaborate with other participants to create prize and gift bags based on their community and school needs. The next part of the presentation will focus on year long activities including secret teacher, teacher shout outs, wellness walks, Food Truck Fridays, Thankful Thursdays, teacher appreciation week and many other activities that provide teachers with the opportunities to be involved and to benefit from PBIS. Lastly, participants will learn to use data to best provide supports to teachers who need more support with classroom management or implementation of PBIS in their classroom; as well as, praise to those who are effectively using PBIS.
