UNDER CONSTRUCTION- Navigating the Roadblocks of PBIS Implementation

Presentation Abstract

An interactive session to guide participants in how to address the challenges of PBIS implementation. PBIS Team members from Woodland Elementary School, a Fulton County Title 1 school with a diverse population, will describe our plan of action to solve the issues we faced in the 2018-2019 school year. We will share how we are building staff capacity and morale, using data more effectively for action planning, and the modifications we have made to our discipline forms. Participants will receive concrete strategies and resources to overcome any implementation obstacles they face.

We will provide examples of:

  • Digital communication and content curation platforms for use in PLCs or teams
  • Discipline forms for minor and major offenses
  • Discipline flowcharts that teachers can easily follow
  • Logical consequences for common behaviors
  • Targeted professional development for teachers
  • How to build staff climate and morale when free food isn’t cutting it
