Proposal
In 2016 we presented on the issue of student plagiarism facing English/Communications faculty at Florida State College at Jacksonville. We examined the collaboration between English faculty and librarians using the ProQuest Research Companion database as a possible solution for assessing research skills and responsible use of sources by ENC 1102 students. https://digitalcommons.georgiasouthern.edu/gaintlit/2016/2016/31/ .Focusing on Module 8 in the Research Companion database, How Do I Avoid Plagiarism and Find My Own Voice, English faculty and faculty librarians decided to develop an in-house assessment product better suited to English faculty needs.
This presentation will examine data gathered from two spring semesters using the Research Companion database Module 8 videos, results from the seventeen question, multiple choice assessment completed by students in ENC1102, and discuss future improvements and other issues that need to be addressed.
