Short Description
The program will be presented as a panel discussion about the development of the embedded or online librarian program at the University of Central Florida (UCF) regional campuses and Daytona State College. A joint panel of UCF regional campus and Daytona State College librarians will talk about their experiences with their respective faculty and students in online classes. The presentation will introduce what it means to be an embedded librarian, how and why it was started at each institution, collaboration with the faculty, needs of the students, differences between graduate and undergraduate students, problems encountered, and successes. The panel will also discuss the necessary components of an embedded librarian program and how the program fulfills the objectives of the ACRL Guidelines for Distance Learning Library Services. The discussion will contain information on marketing to faculty, development, techniques, and student and instructor feedback. Time w! ill be left at the end of the program for discussion with attendees.
