That markets have shifted attention away from an abeyant Euro crisis toward escalating oil prices reflects growing concern surrounding the commodity’s potential to thwart domestic and global economic growth. Unlike some other markets, the oil market is populated by both non-use speculators (market participants with no intention of using the commodity) and those concerned with final-use consumption (think of a firm highly dependent on oil in its production process).
