Abstract
This study examines the relationship between the student-athlete's perception of the emphasis coaches placed on academics throughout the academic year. In this study 76 student-athletes responded to a survey developed by the researcher to ask specific questions to determine differences or similarities during the athletic in and off-season. The participants were representative of the student-athlete population, in almost all aspects. The surveys represented almost every sport on campus and those sports were represented by a close percentage of the total student-athlete population. The grade point averages (GPAs) of the student-athletes were used as an indication of the level of academic performance, and those reported were also a representation of the various academic levels of the student-athlete population.
