Abstract

LSODE, the Livermore Solver for Ordinary Differential Equations (cf. [7]), was used to solve a stiff system of ordinary differential equations. In the LSODE package, each integration step of solving a system of ordinary differential equations involves solving a system of linear equations. Instead of using the approach presented with the LSODE package involving LU decomposition, other linear solvers are implemented as a modification to solve the linear system. The differences in each approach are noted, and some numerical results are reported.
