Abstract
The i-Ready reading program, designed and marketed by Curriculum Associates, is a system designed and marketed to provide students with a computer-based diagnostic assessment along with individualized instruction. The diagnostic assessment assesses individual skill levels while the computer-based instructional component provides tailored student instruction based on results of the diagnostic assessment. The Rainbow County School District (RCSD), a pseudonym, purchased the i-Ready program for all elementary school use during the 2015-2016 school year. Prior to the 2015-2016 school year Blue Elementary School (BES), a pseudonym, utilized the i-Ready program as part of a pilot program. The BES is comprised of a high rate of minority students coupled with a high rate of economically disadvantaged students. This evaluation sought investigate the impact the i-Ready reading program is producing at BES. This evaluation will use Stufflebeam’s (1983) CIPP model for program evaluation. Findings indicated that while some aspects of the program were implemented with fidelity, other important program components could be better implemented and monitored. Additionally, after three years of program implementation, positive student reading achievement outcomes at BES were found to me minimal.
