Abstract or Description
Presentation given at the National Council on Family Relations Annual Conference. As the system of higher education continues to expand, the ways we teach are increasingly a matter of interest. The majority of attempts to understand the perspectives of professors and students view them separately, facilitating a polarization between the two. These presumptions influence how professors teach and how students learn in a myriad of ways. This workshop takes into account both the vantage point of the students and the professors in terms of professional personalization. Professional personalization refers to engaging students through the establishment of pertinence while still maintaining professionalism.
