Summary
This presentation will specifically address microaggressions commonly heard and utilized by undergraduate students on college campuses. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss larger issues of inclusion with regards to student organizations, residence hall communities, classroom environments and social gatherings. This presentation utilizes videos and an activity in order to engage attendees and to ensure students not only achieve comprehension, but move towards application and synthesis with their personal college experience. The presentation will address a variety of microaggressions so that faculty, staff of various functional areas can also benefit from the presentation and clearly understand how they could work to not unintentionally marginalize groups of people. This presentation is for those who are new to inclusion and social justice work, but could serve as a healthy refresher for those who have attended social justice trainings.
