Study guides are a form of test preparation for students, which instructors may or may not use. This SoTL research project looks at how both students’ and instructors’ understand the role of test study guides. This poster will present evaluation data from surveys taken by college students and professors on their perceptions of test study guides. It will address the issues of how study guides are useful to student learning, and how they are helpful to instructors in achieving learning outcomes. Overall, the poster aims to make sense of the use (or non-use) of study guides for students’ learning. After looking at and thinking about the data, attendees will be able to make an informed decision about whether or not to use study guides in their own courses. They will also be invited to survey their students’ in order to better understand students’ view of study guides.
