Abstract
T-norms and T-conorms are extended from the classical unipolar fuzzy lattice 10,11 to the bipolar fuzzy lattice BF = [-1,0] x [0,1]. Bipolar universal modus ponens (BUMP) is introduced and extended to a norm-based granular version for equilibrium-based open-world dynamic reasoning. While classical T-norms and T-conorms can be considered unipolar and linear operators, their bipolar counterparts can be linear or nonlinear. It is shown that bipolar T-norms and T-conorms can be used as granular neurological operators with BUMP in neurological analysis and psychopharmacology.
