Abstract
We propose and empirically examine a Pet Foodie trait—a measurable extension of human foodie identity into pet food consumption. Pet Foodies are theorized to show elevated enjoyment/interest, resource investment, and knowledge regarding pet nutrition and food features. Recognizing the accelerating humanization of pets, we examine whether Pet Foodies can be reliably assessed, how they relate to animal bonding and human foodie identity, and whether they respond differently to pet-food advertising.
