Abstract
Making use of technology to mediate the delivery of courses opens a world of possibilities. In today’s changing world, sophisticated technology is slowly taking its place in the higher education classroom. Colleges and universities are offering more access through online classes, hybrid classes, and distance learning. Not only is the educational delivery method affecting the classroom, social media has made a strong presence into higher education, as well. Different missions for colleges and universities are supporting the new trend of online and social media education. Some marketing research has focused on how social media has altered consumers’ purchase decisions, including the use of corporate blogging, Twitter and Facebook advertising, and initializing consumer made content on Web 2.0. This paper focuses on how technology and social media have altered higher education and how instructors can embrace and use these tools in the classroom.
