Abstract

First-year composition can engage students with meaningful inquiry-based topics while students learn effective database research and writing processes. Weak writers are often weak readers who demonstrate perennial difficulties with research. The presenter highlights strategies for teaching reading and researched writing as "conversational inquiry."
