First Presenter's Brief Biography
Dr. Kiawana Kennedy is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and has proudly served the students, families, and communities of metro Atlanta and surrounding areas for more than 30 years. Dr. Kennedy’s educational accomplishments include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Middle Grades Education from West Georgia College and a Master's Degree as well as a Specialist Degree in Administration and Supervision from State University of West Georgia. In 2000, Dr. Kennedy graduated from the University of Georgia where she earned a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. The roles in which she has honed her craft by ensuring quality learning for all include serving as an elementary and middle school teacher, an assistant principal at the middle school level, principal of multiple levels, and district level positions including Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Chief Operating Officer, Assistant Superintendent as well as Deputy Superintendent. Dr. Kennedy currently serves as Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) Education Outreach Specialist where she continues to support education across the state of Georgia.

The presentation will provide resources for teachers to use in their classrooms to support students with social emotional learning skills (self awareness, responsible decision making, social awareness, and self management). Teaching strategies will be shared so teachers can see how they can implement the resources into their classrooms. Resources also in youth mental health supports.

Teachers will engage with resources that they can easily incorporate into their classrooms, These resources can help students develop their social-awareness, self-awareness, self-management, relationship, and responsible decision-making skills with the thousands of multimodal learning resources and tools available to all Georgia students and teachers through PBS LearningMedia. Teachers will have a chance to try out teaching strategies that can help promote positive climate and cultures.
